On April 1, 1925, Thomas C. Hamilton of Boston, Massachusetts, was issued Patent Number 1,534,211 for his “bottle cap puller.” Many decades later, his Wall-Mounted Bottle Opener has remained unchanged in its simple, utilitarian design – a design so well-conceived that it was included in Phaidon Design Classics.
