The Carps Waves & Shambles
Wait, what? A punk rawker from Sri Lanka? A soul-weaned dreadhead from the Caribbean? Making music together in Canada? And it’s, like, really good? Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. Believe it or not, the “Scarborough” duo of Jahmal Tonge and Neil White – professionally known as The Carps – make an incredible, distinctive, rewarding racket. Borrowing respectfully, and liberally, their din runs the gamut from Motown to Motorhead, and Stax to Suicide. So, yeah, these guys are sort of blowing minds and rearranging heads right now, peddling a second EP that screams loud and clear: we do what we do, and you’re going to love it.
